This month long celebration of an American original art form is NYC's longest continually running grass roots festival dedicated to classic jazz. International and local musicians performing in clubs and concert halls at venues throughout the municipality. Past performances by Roy Haynes, Lou Donaldson, Pharoah Sanders, Houston Person, and Randy Weston made this festival a destination for jazz aficionados. Youth Jazz Jamboree, Jazz: The Women's View Point, conferences, and Brooklyn Jazz Hall of Fame induction ceremony are some of the events planned. Produced by Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium with support from the people of Brooklyn. April is decreed Jazz Appreciation Month throughout the USA.
