Tell us a little more about you in your own words (what you like, what instrument [if any] you play, etc).
Igor has been playing the guitar since he was eight years old and has been playing in various groups since the age of fifteen. He graduated from Gliere Music College in Kiev and finally moved to Moscow in 1990. He worked with the “Sovremennik” orchestra, directed by Anatoly Kroll, and later with Alexei Kozlov’s group “Arsenal”. In 1996 Igor founded his own group “Igor Boiko Band” that he continues playing with. Furthermore, besides numerous workshops, Igor Boiko runs his own “Laboratory of Professional Guitar Education” in Moscow-city. His students get deeply acquainted with the language of melodic improvisation, the hidden nuances of harmony and arrangement, become familiar with the greatest masters of the XX century. Some of Igor Boiko’s educational concepts were introduced in his book “My Method” which became a true bestseller in the post-Soviet space. Igor Boiko has released six albums with his latest entitled “Sparks and Shadows” (NuNote, 2008).
