Jerry was born in The Bronx and raised in Harlem. He caught the music bug early in life, listening to his parents Ida and Alfonza sing around the house, in church, and listening to their collection of 78rpm records. Jerry always loved to listen to and sing to the radio and claims that is how he developed his voice and eclectic musical tastes.
Through an amazing set of circumstances, Jerry found himself being introduced to the New York City Blues scene by way of the now infamous Dan Lynch Blues Bar. He spent thirteen years studying The Blues there and eventually hosting their Saturday and Sunday afternoon jam sessions. Fortunately, this little bar became the hub of the Blues scene in NYC and many legendary Blues musicians stopped by to say hello and sing a song on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. That gig caused many to notice Jerry and gave him invaluable experience in live performance that could not be duplicated. Later, Jerry spent a great amount of time touring Europe as Bassist and Background Singer for The Andy J. Forest Blues Band and busking in Italy. His most recent trip to Europe was as an invited guest of the Ferrara Buskers Festival, with good friend Chris Blanden.
These days his work is focused in New York City and the Tri State area. Jerry works regularly at Terra Blues, and The Red Lion, both on legendary Bleecker Street. His bands, The Dugger Brothers, and The Harlem Blues Project keep his creative juices flowing as he composes original material. Both bands are also known for their unique covers of Blues, Soul, and Country music. Jerry also performs solo acoustic guitar shows at Banjo Jims in New York City. Jerry sees his compositional efforts as a mission to touch his audience in the way only great music can.
