During the past year and a half, Jonny recorded the 11-track album Live from The Batcave, working with a range of different producers that included Rusty Cloud of The Blues Brothers, Mark Fineberg of Donna Summer, Ken Hitchcock of Steely Dan, and Charlie Lagond of Kid Creole & the Coconuts. Each track is bigger than the next, featuring the classic quartet of drums, bass, guitar, and vocals with a powerful horn section providing all sorts of color and support.
The album was derived from a series of live recordings and rehearsals at The Batcave Studios where Jonny spent over 2 years with his band. These recordings were subsequently brought to Jonny's producers where they were reworked, rearranged, and rerecorded. THE RHYME is the only song left untouched from The Batcave Studios.
Live from The Batcave is full of new age recipes of modern rock & blues with a do-wop noveau scat solo in “What Would You Do.” Songs such as “Where the Rubber Meets the Road,” and “The Man Who Knew,” highlight the horn section weaving in and out of each chorus, enhancing the defiance delivered in Jonny’s lead vocals.
This versatile vocalist/saxophonist makes the listener feel grounded in the great traditions of American music, while taking them to a place that only his originality can. His diverse musical background is evident with different genres of music coming together to form one unique sound all of his own.
Jonny continues to play a wide variety of venues throughout New York City and the Tri-State area. He looks forward to a productive 2009 with Live from The Batcave.
